D-Day: The Last Voices for Radio 4 brings together a rich collection of historical audio testimonies recorded with those who fought in the invasion of Normandy, alongside extraordinary new interviews with the last surviving veterans, to tell their story of D-Day as it unfolded, presented by Paddy O’Connell. The series is a companion to the BBC Two / iPlayer series D-Day: The Unheard Tapes.
Five rich and gripping episodes will broadcast daily at 11.45am and lead us through the complex, visceral and moving story of the invasion. From subterfuge to secrecy, the arrival of H-Hour, landings by sea and air, and on into ‘D-Day Plus’ with the battles beyond the beaches.
