Life inside Leeds Council’s highly stressed One Stop Shop, which aims to deal with the public’s general enquiries on anything from rent arrears to council tax on the spot.
Over a period of five months the Customer Service Officers at One Stop Shop were followed as they underwent analysis by a Stress Management team. Usually the team would expect to find about 3% of staff suffering anxiety and depression similar to that of a psychiatric outpatient. In this case their findings are far more severe with 14% of the staff i.e. 17 people all suffering from stress to this level.
