Muslims in America profiles the very different lives of six Muslim families living in diverse communities across the United States and challenges many of the West’s misconceived stereotypes of Islam.
All of the interviewees talk about the difficulties they face being Muslim in a western country and the sorrow and fear they’ve experienced in light of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
And as the programme discovers, although that day and the time since has brought re-evaluation and unseen complexities to the lives of these citizens, one simple fact remains – they view themselves as both American and Muslim.
