The first series was BBC2’s highest rated series of 2004 and one of the most critically acclaimed television production of the year.  In 2006 Who Do You Think You Are? returned with even higher ratings.  For its third series, the show moved to BBC1.  In each film one of Britain’s best-loved celebrities traces their family tree to reveal the surprising, extraordinary and often moving stories of their ancestors.  At the same time the series has a more universal purpose: to offer an alternative way of looking at the history of modern Britain – a people’s history.  And to inspire viewers to consider their family’s contribution to making of Britain.
