Wall to Wall format has previously been co-produced by Netflix
LGBTQ+ streamer OUTtv has expanded its partnership with the BBC by joining the upcoming seventh series of Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make Up Star as co-commissioner.
OUTtv had initially boarded the project as the exclusive global SVoD rights holder series six. The Wall to Wall Media competition format had previously seen streaming giant Netflix join as co-producer on series two.
The forthcoming 8 x 60-minute seventh series will launch globally on OUTtv (apart from the Nordics where it will stream on OUTflix) and on BBC3 and iPlayer in the UK next year.
Glow Up first aired in 2019, following 10 makeup artists as they compete in wide-ranging series of assignments and challenges to win a coveted job in the makeup industry. It is currently hosted by supermodel Leomie Anderson, who was preceded by Stacey Dooley and Maya Jama in the role, with Val Garland and Dominic Skinner judging the contestants’ efforts alongside a weekly guest judge.
The deal follows a number of recently announced international commissions from OUTtv including original and illuminating docuseries, including the Rosie Jones-fronted fishing format Get Hooked.
Philip Webb, chief operating officer of OUTtv, said: “Glow Up is a series we have admired for years, and co-commissioning the upcoming season feels like a natural progression for us following the successful rollout of season six earlier this year on our platform globally.
“We have audiences from the USA to New Zealand who love the series, and the constant reinvention and creative inspiration make up offers all genders. We have found such excellent partners in both the BBC and Wall to Wall and look forward to working closely with them as production starts.”
Melissa Brown, executive producer at Wall to Wall, added: “OUTtv’s commitment to bold, diverse, and inclusive storytelling makes them the perfect partner for us and I look forward to creating a standout season that resonates with audiences everywhere.”
