Introducing audiences to the heritage of Blacks in Latin America, the series comprises four documentaries featuring Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. Travelling to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico and Peru, he examines the political, social and economic histories of each country.
Using archival footage and present-day interviews, Gates Jr. investigates the social conditions that Black populations in Latin America experience today as a result of the nations' histories.
